Types of gi is about a subject that is relevant to the storyline of both the TV series of the two Ninjago units, and the Cinematic Universe. Information may be more directed towards one continuity than the other.

“If swords are your thing, maybe I can interest you in an authentic ninja gi, signed by the very ninja that saved the city.”

In the Solar System and formerly in the world of Ninjago, the Ninja wear gi or outfits, denoting various forms and ranks they take over the course of the story.

The Mysterious Black Ninja[]

“What he's trying to say, Sensei Wu, is that three of us have trained together. We're solid.”
Zane

Cole, Jay, and Zane wore black masks and outfits similar to what the Training Outfits would look like.

Original Outfits[]

“Woah, check out our new suits!”
Jay

The Ninja started with black outfits, but then changed into training gis. Their masks appear to be attached to the gi-like hoods. The standard Ninja outfit features the color of the gi corresponding with the wearer's element. The ropes are used as a belt.

Their original black gis came before these gis and their Dragon eXtreme Gis came after these gis.

Pajamas[]

The Ninja wear their pajamas when they go to bed.

Dragon eXtreme Gi[]

“Wait, that doesn't look like there's any room.”
“No, but I know where to get more.”
Cole and Kai

The DX Ninja (Dragon eXtreme Ninja), wore Ninja suits with the image of their respective Dragons on the right side of their suits. The dragons are shown breathing their elements. Their hoods are the same as the previous hoods.

Their training gis came before these gis and their Kendo armor and their Zen eXtreme Armor came after these gis.

Kendo Armor[]

“Two matches, then the winners face off. It's time we learn what these babies can do.”
Cole

The Ninja wear gray armor over their training gis similar to Samurai X's gis.

Dapper Gents[]

The Ninja briefly wore these classy outfits made by Lou when performing the show, but they decided to use their ZX outfits instead.

Zen eXtreme Armor[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

“Woah, check out these cool new suits!”
“Battle claws!”
“The material is really light and breathable!”
Kai, Cole, and Zane about their ZX suits

The ZX (Zen eXtreme) Ninja wear gis and masks similar to their normal outfits, but with armor on their shoulders. The armor design varies between Ninja, but all have a three-pronged "crowns" on the "foreheads" of their masks. Cole and Jay has gray armor, and Kai and Zane has gold armor. The back of the suit features a holder for weapons, but use the Golden Weapons instead.

Their Dragon eXtreme gis came before these gis and their Kendo armor and their Elemental Robes came after these gis.

Pirate Outfits[]

“Ah-ha. There are other ways a Ninja can hide in plain sight.”
Jay

The four original Ninja briefly disguised as pirates to sneak onboard the Black Bounty. They wore the outfits over their ZX outfits.

Dark Matter[]

The Ninja has the same gi they have on, but they turn corrupted. Kai and Lloyd are the only Ninja not to be infected by Dark Matter.

Elemental Robes/Kimono eXtreme[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Ninja's ZX gis changed into these robes in the Temple of Light on the Dark Island.

Their zen gis came before these gis and their Kendo armor and their techno gi came after these gis.

Beach Clothes[]

The Ninja wore their beach clothes when playing on the beach.

Stone Army Suits[]

The Ninja wore Stone Army armors and helmets over their Elemental clothing.

School Uniforms[]

“Is anyone else chapped that Lloyd gets to be the Golden Ninja and fly around accepting awards while we're stuck here being teachers with no powers?”
Jay

The Ninja wore their school uniforms in when they taught at Master Wu's Academy.

Techno Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

“Why would he give us new Ninja outfits?”
Cole

The Ninja received these new ninja gis and the Techno Blades from Cyrus Borg. The outfits are kimono-like robes and have bandana-like masks that cover the mouth. These are the first Ninja minifigures to have hair, which, naturally, are based on the characters' hairstyles in the series.

Space Suits[]

The Ninja wore the astronaut suits in Outer Space while in search of the Golden Weapons in Delta V. Zane doesn't use a space suit, because robots like him doesn't need oxygen to survive.

Stone Warrior Armor[]

“Isn't that what the Overlord used during the battle?”

The Ninja wore stone warrior armor by putting on the stone statues in the Temple of Fortitude. This is the only time the Ninja have armor and bandana masks together in one piece.

Dressed To Win I[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

“Yeah, this is sweet.”
Lloyd

The robes during the first half of the Tournament of Elements have padded chestplates and a black strap running from the left shoulder to the right hip. On the Ninjas' right shoulder, a gold badge with the that Ninja's symbol appears, and on the strap is Lloyd, Kai, Jay, and Cole's elemental symbols. The suits lack long sleeves and armor, thus the suit is lighter. The hairpieces and masks are identical to the Techno versions. Zane does not have a tournament outfit, but appears in a sheet of paper in the intro.

Dressed To Win II[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

In the second half of the Tournament of Elements, the Ninja were a step back to the older Ninja uniforms hood-masks and heavy tools. They wore it in the Jungle, and it was presumed that Chen gave them these outfits. Zane already had his Titanium suit in prison. Zane's right eye is humanoid in his titanium form.

Prison Wear (Tournament of Elements)[]

The prisoners of Chen's island (except Zane) wore these outfits, working under Chen, creating noodles and other east-Asian food.

Kryptarium Prison Wear[]

The prisoners of Kryptarium Prison wear prisoner attire like those at regular prisons. The chains are embedded with Vengestone, so they can't escape.

Deepstone Gi[]

“These new suits are heavy. Why can't we just use our old ones?”
“These are embedded with Deepstone. They will protect you from being possessed.”
Kai and Wu

The Ninja, in the first half, does not have deepstone armor, thus Cole will turn into the ghost and not receive armor. In the second half, all except Cole does not have armor. Nya has golden armor and a maroon suit similar to the boys.

Destiny Robes/Airjitzu Suits[]

I just learned how to make a Water Dragon. I haven't even earned my Airjitzu suit yet.”
Nya

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

When fighting the Sky Pirates, the Ninja use the Airjitzu Suits, which reuses the leg pieces and masks, along with elemental symbols and an Airjitzu symbol on the torso and a new armor piece that holds katanas.

Honor Robes[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

Similar to the Destiny Robes, the Ninja outfits are an amalgamation to the Ninja ZX suits, with the same armor (more brown) on the gi. They also bring back the old styles of the Ninjas' elemental symbols and add a secondary color instead of the solid black on the Ninjas' hoods.

Fusion Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Ninja have suits look similar to the the Deepstone and Day of the Departed outfits, reusing the Deepstone armor pieces and the latter's hood (except for Nya). Despite including elements from the previously mentioned suits, these suits have a completely new design for the torso and legs, with a highly detailed samurai theme.

Secret Ninja Force Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

In the movie, which takes place in a different continuity than the show, the Ninja have new suits that have a new two-piece ninja hood and brand new designs on them. Zane's Ninja hood, however, does not have any black coloring, but instead, is full white. Other notable variations are present between the individual suits: Nya has a waist cape, while Cole's suit does not have sleeves.

The Fuchsia Ninja wears this outfit in the color pink and black as the secondary color.

Resistance Robes[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

In the movie-adapted series, the Ninja have a new look, along with new suits similar to the Ninja Force suits, by reusing the two-piece Ninja hood but now in reverse color (except for Cole and, to an extent, Zane), along with the armor piece from the Skybound suits, except that it's brown. Despite including elements from the previously mentioned suits, these have a brand new designs on them.

Hunted Robes[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Ninjas' gi, while fighting in the realms, all use a mask that consists of the top half of their SoG mask and a black bottom half (Cole is the exception, as his mask remains the same because both halves are mostly black). Despite this, the masks were only used in two episodes. Lloyd used his in Radio Free Ninjago and Green Destiny, while the original four Ninja use theirs in Green Destiny. Nya does not use hers at all. Zane, Cole, Kai, and Jay's suits consist of their torn SoG suits with added armor elements (excluding Cole, whose outfit does not change following the conclusion to Sons of Garmadon). Lloyd and Nya's suits are brand new, with the Wu Cru symbol emblazoned on it.

Legacy Robes[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Ninjas' gi during the Oni Invasion have new mask molds similar to the Deepstone and ZX masks. Each of the Ninja's masks is made of their base color, and a band of their secondary color over the top part. Several old design elements have returned, including Nya's gi having an azure and maroon color scheme for the first time since Day of the Departed and Cole's gi having sleeves for the first time since Hands of Time. Lloyd also has a Golden Ninja variant. Lil' Nelson has a hood based on the Legacy hood.

On their torso, the designs have golden dragon emblems, similar to the DX suits.

Swimsuits[]

The swimsuits are similar to the beach clothes, instead they have a new swimsuit(s) they are currently wearing. They wear the suits when they are in the Bell of Divinity.

Armor Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Ninjas' gi are very simplistic compared to the suits they've worn prior. Each Ninjas' mask reuses their Legacy hood (except for Cole and Nya), but on the bandana is a Ninjagan symbol that corresponds with the first letter of the Ninjas' name. They each have a gray new armor piece, but on the right shoulder instead of the left. Lloyd is the only Ninja without gloves.

Forbidden Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The FS Ninja are nearly identical to the summer 2019 suits, the only difference is their hoods possess a powered-up element.

Digi Gi[]

The ninja bought new gis with their credits while in Prime Empire. The gi includes more protection on the masks, which includes heavy, white armor on their shoulders, and visors over their eyes, when they are facing Unagami and his army. Zane does not enter Prime Empire, so his Digi Suit do not appear.

Hero Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

I do not see the necessity of this armor.”
“Merely a precaution. Just in case it is an ambush.”
Zane and Gulch

The Ninja used medieval knight armor over their SotFS suits while leading the Geckles and the Munce into battle while in Shintaro. Aside from the armor, the gi has one oversized shoulder plate and metal plates over their mask and a clip at the back of the Ninja's armor to hold their shield. Lloyd, Nya, and Jay have silver armor while Kai, Cole, and Zane wear gold. Kai, Zane and Jay's variants have identical leg prints to their SotFS variants.

Other Gi[]

True Potential Gi[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

“In each and every one of us, there are obstacles that hold us back. Only when you conquer that fear, will your heart be free.”
— Wu

In the TV series, the NRG Ninja appear as their ZX forms (including shoulder pads and suit details), but glowing with light and made of or surrounded by their respective element.

Kai

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Airjitzu Ninja are very similar to the NRG variant, although it represents when the Ninja unlock Airjitzu. The main suit consists of a mask similar to the ZX Ninja but lacking decoration. These suits do not appear in the TV series.

When the Ninja looked at themselves in the Crystal Walls in the Ice Labyrinth, they saw a mere glimpse of their future selves. Cole's reflection didn't appear due to his ghost status giving his future self the ability to turn invisible.

Spinjitzu Masters[]

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Spinjitzu Masters outfits are very similar to the Airjitzu suits, although they represent when the Ninja are doing Spinjitzu. The masks of these suits consists of (for each Ninja) of the top half of their LEGO Ninjago Movie mask, and the bottom half of their SoG mask. Their torso seems to be the black "training" gi but enhanced by their elemental power (with the exception of Cole and Zane where it seems to be their Sons of Garmadon or Ninjago Movie suits) They all have colored hands that match their element, and black sleeves (except for Cole). They all share the same legs, which are the same ones for the new training gi.

These suits do not appear in the TV series.

The Ninja's robes inherit color-coded bandanas and include a mixture of various elements from their Techno and Tournament gi. Nya, and Zane are yet to have their variants revealed. Nya and Zane are the only Ninja without Tournament Legacy Variants.

These suits do not appear in the TV series.

This section of Types of gi includes some or all content from the "Types of gi" article from the Ninjago Wiki, a FANDOM project.

The Spinjitzu Surge outfits are very similar to the NRG, Spinjitzu Slam and FS suits. Their bodies are fully enveloped by the color that represents each ninja with their eyes shining. Nya, Zane, and Lloyd are the only Ninja without Spinjitzu Burst Variants.

These suits do not appear in the TV series.
